The Birthday Was Cool

Monday was my first birthday without Aaron since 1997. I wasn't looking forward to it at all. However, thanks to the ladies who have been my rock throughout this entire ordeal, they made it so nice. They kept me full and drunk and laughing. I really, really needed that. Of course, the sad moments popped up from time to time, but I was able to push right on past them.
Before Aaron became sick, I never thought about the importance of having a good support system. I really love and appreciate those that have held me together and talked me off the ledge so many times. They call, text and check up on me daily. I will forever be grateful to them for that. I love them to pieces!! I also appreciate the no-shows, now I know who they are and will treat them accordingly.
I was extremely surprised when Rahmil came home with a cake, a rose, AND a Starbucks gift card. It brought tears to my eyes that he thought about me. Rahsaan made a card and had some of his friends and teachers sign it and he gave me a Kit Kat..... It was the thought that counts. LOL! Aryn told me happy birthday and went on with her social activities.
When it was all said and done, I had a really great birthday.
